Super Healthy Chocolate Crackle Bars

Super Healthy Chocolate Crackle Bars

Here’s a great snack to have on hand that will be well received by the kids let me assure you!

I’ve used plenty of healthy nutrient dense ingredients in these Super Healthy Chocolate Crackle Bars so your child’s blood sugar levels will remain balanced plus providing sustained energy. This is a truly wonderful, healthy snack for kids that is low in sugar and high in the nutrition their growing bodies REALLY need. Perfect for the upcoming winter holidays!

There’s truly an abundance of nutrition in these bars and they taste incredible. We LOVE tahini which adds a little something special and a creaminess that’s always a winner.

All of the wholefood ingredients used contain great levels of nutrients (minerals, vitamins, fats and protein) to support optimal cellular function, immune health through winter AND growth and development.

These are just like the old fashioned chocolate crackle BUT healthier with a tonne less sugar and NONE of the damaging fats (copha) of the original version which was a very popular party food back when I was a kid. If you must know, that was back in the 70’s, the decade of tragic fashion and hair styles. Thank god for tapping I say!

With school holidays starting, making a batch of these means the extra snacking kids do when at home will be well sorted so you can simply enjoy spending quality time with them rather than being in the kitchen!

The only thing about this particular recipe is that I have let my standards slip a little by using organic puffed rice. This is a processed food and as such is not ideal so this isn’t a snack we have very often AND I feel much better when we puff our own which can be done in a pop corn maker.

Instructions
  1. Blitz coconut and nuts together until a thick paste is formed. Add everything but the puffs and combine then gently add the puffs. Press mixture into a lined tray and refrigerate until cold. You can even make individual ones in patty pans or a mini muffin tray. Top with melted chocolate and set then cut into bars and enjoy! Store them in the fridge for up to a few weeks, as if they will last that long, ha!
